Romney performed as expected with his polished style and quick answers. He is the professional debater of the group.
Gingrich did well but still left you with the feeling that he could be a winner except for “that baggage”. He did have some of the best comebacks of the night.
Bachman’s delivery seemed flat. It might be that she is tired or maybe the confusion in her campaign has blurred the message.
Cain looked and sounded good but he doesn’t seem to be getting any traction with the electorate right now.
When you listen to Ron Paul it’s like walking through a mine field blindfolded. Just when you think you might like him, he makes an outlandish statement that makes you wonder about his sanity. His performance last night was the same.
Huntsman keeps sending mixed messages. You don’t know where he will stand at any given moment.
Santorum left me feeling blah. If he doesn’t light a fire under his campaign and do it real soon, he will be out the door.
And then we come to Gov. Perry. Expectations were high. Asking around the room, I found that no one felt that he hurt himself and no one dented his image. His high point was when he was questioned about the Texas State death penalty. His answer was very strong and well thought out.
All in all it seems like what was expected was what was delivered. I don’t expect much change in the polls.
And so the race continues….
