Animal Control Catches Dog That Bit Three-Year-Old
AV News staff report
LANCASTER  - Animal control officers tracked a dog’s movements after it escaped by running into the desert and finally captured the canine this past weekend.

The stray dog is believed to have bitten a three-year-old Lancaster girl on Dec. 21 while she was playing in her front yard in the 44000 block of 18th Street West, according to officers from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control.

The dog bit the young girl in the face but was scared off by a family member. Family members rushed the child to a local hospital.

Officers spotted the dog several times after the attack but it ran into the desert. However, by tracking the dog’s travel patterns for a few weeks, a team of animal control officers caught the dog just as it was headed back into the desert from a nearby neighborhood.

The dog will be held under observation and its owner can come forward to claim the animal, according to the animal control department.
