Just Fix The Darn Problem People
By Mike Handley
Congress is facing a real issue. Do they let Bush’s tax break for the middle class expire, or do they extend it out past the next election?

If the present economic conditions continue then how are the unemployed supposed to pay their bills and put food on the table? Not extending the tax break will only make a bad situation worse.

I believe Congress should bite the bullet and extend the tax break using a clean up or down bill, with no riders attached. Take the politics out and just do it. Once that’s done, start hacking into the budget.

Let’s make some big changes starting with the Department of Education. This Department was created, I believe in the 1970’s, and is nothing more than a duplicate of the same system that each State has. It is not needed and never has been, so give the States back their money and get rid of it. That alone should save the Federal Government hundreds of millions, (maybe billions), of dollars.

Next cut the heck out of the EPA. Their out of touch anti business policies have cost the taxpayers millions of jobs. Besides, how much faith can one have in a group of thousands of individuals who can’t even figure out how to keep a two-inch fish out of a water pipe?

Why are we handing out foreign aid to countries who don’t even like us when we have far too many folks right here at home who need help? Quit giving aid to our enemies.

That will save more millions of dollars.

That’s three places we can find money being spent in useless places. Take the money saved and use it to pay for the tax breaks and if any is left over use it to retrain individuals in job skills that will pay off in jobs.

If you want to know how we can save a lot more money, try asking some of the guys like Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, or Allen West. These are some of the men we should be looking to for the answers.

You as an individual can look for items made in America . Buy American. The job you save might be your own.

In the end, the problems we face are not insurmountable, unless of course you throw in some politics….

Update on the Primary Race:

Well, it would seem that the race is narrowing somewhat. Herman Cain has bowed out and many of the other candidates are down to single numbers.

At this point in time it looks like Gingrich’s race to lose. He has surpassed Romney in the polls and has opened a good lead but as usual Romney is waiting in the wings.

We have seen this happen before with Bachman, Perry, and Cain. All had their moment in the sun and then imploded and fell back.

What makes us think Gingrich won’t do the same? His intelligence and record of getting things done appeal to many of the voters.

I believe we are looking for someone who can break the gridlock that pervades Washington, and get the job done for the American people. We are looking for someone who will get Washington off the backs of small business and out of our pocketbooks.

Gingrich appears to be the strongest opponent to take on Romney so far.

We shall see in the coming few weeks if he can succeed.
